Bamenda: Despairing hope, as rescuers unable to find 9-year old swept by floods

As inhabitants of Ntanche and Aningdoh in Bamenda I subdivision, Mezam division in the North West region went to bed on Monday, October 1, there is little hope of seeing a 9-year-old girl who was swept away by floods in the afternoon.

Reports say the little girl was with two boys of ages below 15, when the over-flooding river Ntanche swept them away, following torrential rains in the afternoon.

The two survivors were stocked at the banks of the river, when inhabitants of the neighborhood rushed to the area, before saving them.

The survivors immediately alerted the disappearance of their sister, causing the population to launch another search. The Army rescue unit later joined them.

The two victims were rushed to the hospital. At press time the little girl was still to be found.

The latest report by the National Observatory for Climate Change earlier warned of imminent landslides in some localities in Bamenda, including Up Station.
