Bougouriba Bus Accident Leaves 11 Injured, 7 Evacuated to Gaoua

Bougouriba: A public transport bus traveling from Gaoua to Bobo-Dioulasso overturned on the roadway this Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at around 7:30 a.m., near the exit of Tiankoura, a rural commune in Bougouriba province. The provisional report communicated by health authorities indicates 11 injured, including 7 in emergency situations who were evacuated to the Regional Hospital Center (CHR) of Gaoua.

According to Burkina Information Agency, information gathered from the Diebougou Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) indicates that the four other injured individuals are receiving outpatient treatment on site. Among those evacuated to Gaoua are a pregnant woman and her child, approximately five years old.

Security and medical sources reported that the accident occurred when the bus driver attempted to avoid an individual who suddenly appeared on the road. In his maneuver, he lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.

Rescue efforts were swiftly mobilized, with the intervention of the Gaoua fire brigade and support from the Tiankoura district police station. There are currently no reports of human casualties.
