Chancellor of Germany to Visit Ethiopia

State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga met with the Director for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel at the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ambassador Christoph Retzlaff.

During the occasion, the two officials discussed bilateral and mutual concerns, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The state minister welcomed the upcoming visit of Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz to Ethiopia.

He said that frequent high-level visits to Ethiopia will contribute to strengthening relations between Ethiopia and Germany.

Ambassador Mesganu also explained the implementation of the Peace Agreement, and in tandem with that, the Government is keen to work on transitional justice mechanisms, national dialogue, and attaining accountability in order to create a stable political environment in Ethiopia.

On Sudan, he said Ethiopia wants to see a stable and peaceful Sudan urging that the conflict should be resolved through dialogue.

Ethiopia strongly condemns the interference of external actors and encourages the efforts of AU and IGAD to facilitate dialogue among conflicting parties, he added.

Ambassador Christoph Retzlaff appreciated the progress of the implementation of the peace agreement and the establishment of an interim administration in the Tigray region.
