Commissioner calls for collective efforts in fighting transformer theft

Machakos County Commissioner Josephine Ouko has called for collective efforts and cooperation with Machakos residents in fighting transformer theft.

The CC said there has been an upsurge of transformer theft in Machakos and urged for cooperation between the residents and security officers to nab the culprits.

Ouko was speaking during the 61st Mashujaa day celebrations at Masii grounds in Mwala sub county where she added that the only way to ensure security is upheld is by working together.

‘Security is upheld when the residents work with security officers calling for the need to unite and protect the transformers in Machakos,’ said Ouko.

She encouraged the residents on the importance of planting trees and achieving the government’s target of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 while Machakos target being 300 million, the residents should put more efforts in achieving it.

The CC noted that the Government is empowering business people and entrepreneurs in Machakos by constructing 10 markets spread over the
9 Sub counties that will benefit the residents by increasing the customer base, sales opportunities and also increase the county’s revenue.

On affordable housing, Ouko revealed that already 222 units are complete and called on prospective buyers to start registering for the houses adding that the project has spurred socio economic growth in the region.
