Delegation of Regional Chief Administrators Led by Adem Farah Is in Mekele

A Delegation of Regional Chief Administrators led by the Deputy President of the Prosperity Party (PP) Adem Farah has travelled to Mekele, Capital of Tigray Region today.

The delegation is also comprised of the City Mayors of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa as well as other senior federal government and Prosperity Party officials.

It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed had announced last week at an event held under theme “Enough with War; Let Us Sustain Peace” to honor those who have contributed to making the Pretoria Peace Agreement a reality that all chief administrators of regional states will travel to Tigray to demonstrate their solidarity to the people of the region.

The governments of Ethiopia and TPLF have signed a peace agreement in South Africa, Pretoria last year to end the two years long conflict in the northern part of the country.

Following the peace agreement, the government of Ethiopia has been carrying out activities to rehabilitate communities affected due to the conflict and rebuilding of various infrastructures destroyed in Amhara, Afar and Tigray regions.

As a result of these measures, basic services have been restored in the areas including banks, telecom, drinking water and electricity.

A number of other activities are also being undertaken as part of the agreement with a view to ensuring peace in Ethiopia in a sustainable manner.

Last week, Ethiopia marked a milestone by closing a chapter of war and celebrating the conclusion of the historic peace agreement under the theme “Enough With War – Let’s Celebrate Peace.”

Several members of the international community including the Africa Union and UN have been honored at the event to making the Pretoria Peace Agreement a reality.
