DPM and FM Demeke Meets Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister on Margins of WEF


Addis Ababa: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, earlier this morning met with the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on the margins of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters in Switzerland.

They discussed mutual engagements at various highest levels of respective governments to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

By citing the fact that Ethiopia opened its Embassy in Islamabad recently, Demeke reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to consolidating Ethio-Pakistani ties.

He also mentioned that Ethiopia will work towards diversifying its engagements with Pakistan including trade and investment.

Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar on his part stated by capitalizing on the positive momentum from the commitment of the governments of Pakistan and Ethiopia to boost relations, his country will work to strengthen ties in the areas of trade, investment, skills transfer as well as people-to-people rel
ations.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, who is currently serving as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan succeeded Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in August 2023.

The Embassy of Ethiopia to Pakistan was officially inaugurated on 11 May 2023 where Jemal Beker is the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
