Enos Kales Triumphs in Lake Ol Bolosatt Conservation Half Marathon

Nyandarua County, Kenya – Enos Kales emerged victorious in the Lake Ol Bolosatt Half Marathon, clocking an impressive time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 15 seconds. This success comes on the heels of his recent 10km race victory in West Pokot.

According to Kenya News Agency, his strategy of maintaining a high pace throughout the race, which he had practiced in his previous 10km race win, played a crucial role in his triumph at Nyandarua. Amos Mitei and Nicholas Kiplimo secured the second and third positions, respectively, with times of 1:06.43 and 1:06.50. Other top finishers in the men’s category included Sammy Kurui, Geoffrey Kirui, John Mwangi, Lenkai Olenganai, Stephen Letanto, George Waiyaki, and Gideon Mutai. However, participants raised concerns about the race distance, noting discrepancies with their GPS watches.

Lawrence Miano, Secretary of Nyandarua Athletics Kenya, acknowledged an inadvertent increase in the race length due to an error in placing the starting point board. In the women’s half marathon category, Vivian Cherotich from Iten clinched the top spot. The event also featured elite 10km, 5km, and 2km races for corporations, and a 5km race for veterans.

The marathon, organized to promote the conservation of Lake Ol Bolosatt – the only lake in Mt. Kenya – commenced near the Equator in Nyahururu town.
