Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently leading thousands of mourners in the burial of the late Mwalimu Julius Kano Ndumbi at Gichugu in Kirinyaga County.
The late Ndumbi was a former principal of Kianyaga High School between 1978 to 1988, where the Deputy President is alumnae.
He headed notable schools, among them Chuka High School, Kangaru School-Embu, Muranga High School, and Kiarithia-ini High School in Mathira.
Gachagua, in his last visit to Kianyaga High School, described Ndumbi as a disciplinarian who moulded him in the right direction.
On May 26, 2023, the government appointed Mwalimu Ndumbi to the Board of the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) as a Director, a position he was serving in up to his demise.
Ndumbi passed on May 13, 2024, at Consalata Mathari Mission Hospital in Nyeri, where he was rushed after he suddenly fell ill.
