Governor Ntutu highlights key projects

Narok County Governor Patrick Ntutu used the Mashujaa day platform to highlight the key projects he has implemented in the county since he took office for his first term as a governor.

Ntutu said so far, he has rolled out over 600 projects across the 30 wards that had been fully funded by the county government.

Among the completed projects are: water projects, maternity wings, administration blocks, Computer laboratories, roads, bridges, classrooms, dormitories and livestock sale yards, that had been prioritised by residents in the public participation forums.

He reiterated that he will fast-track the ongoing projects to ensure they are completed on the stipulated timelines and handed over to the communities before embarking on new initiatives.

He reiterated that the roadworks machinery had been deployed across the wards to implement the first phase, which involves upgrading 33 kilometers of road in every ward.

‘For this financial year, my administration has embarked on a comprehensive infrastructure re
-overhaul program aimed at improving mobility for people, goods and services by opening up, grading, repairing and maintaining roads across the county,’he said.

Once the initial phase is completed, he said, the programme will continue until all roads are adequately maintained.

In a bid to entrench accountability in service delivery and align functions with resources, he said, the county government introduced a performance contracting system to identify various bottlenecks encountered during the implementation of performance contracts.

On the affordable housing program, the governor said his administration will collaborate with the national government to develop affordable housing units within the county to contribute to the provision of safe and secure shelter for the citizens.

‘Affordable housing is a fundamental human right. However, with a growing population and challenging economic times, realizing the right has become a significant challenge for many citizens. The challenges place the responsibility
on both national and county governments to put in place progressive mechanisms to realize this right,’he said.

The Mashujaa day celebrations in Narok county was held at Ole Ntimama Secondary School in Narok North Sub County and led by Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia and Governor Ntutu.
