The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atnaga Nji has banned discussions surrounding the health of President Paul Biya on Cameroon media. This is contained in a letter sent to 10 regional governors, urging them to reinforce the ban.

he stated that the media should refrain from discussing the health of the president, threatening sanctions against private media that go against the order.

‘This attempt to control the narrative surrounding the president’s health will potentially limit public access to information,’ an opinion leader who begged not to be named told CNA.

‘The president’s health is a matter of public interest, particularly in a democratic society. Transparency and open communication are essential for maintaining public trust and confidence in government.’ He said.

The minister’s outing comes days following debates on private media concerning the whereabouts of President Pual Biya, who has not been seen in Cameroon since September 2, 2024.

Minister Atanga Nji who is also the permanent
