International Day of Peace: President launches booklet entitled Inter-Religious Dialogue within different Religions

A booklet entitled Inter-religious dialogue within different religions, was launched, today, by the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun at the State House in Réduit on the occasion of the International Day of Peace observed on 21 September.

The President of the Council of Religions, Father Philipe Goupille; the Assistant Treasurer of the Council of Religions, Mrs Allia Syed Hossen-Gooljar; representatives of the Council of Religions; and other personalities were present at the event.

Following the launch of the book, a tree planting ceremony was also held.

Speaking at the event, President Roopun lauded the Council of Religions for their commitment over the past 30 years in promoting peace, wisdom and respect. He spoke of the importance to ensuring social cohesion, mutual comprehension and harmony for an inclusive and equitable society.

The President called for collective engagement to foster inter-religious dialogue in multicultural Mauritius.

iation to the holding of the event which aims to reflect on values while highlighting that the Council of Religions has undertaken various initiatives with the aim to promoting peace in the country.

Mrs Hossen-Gooljar pointed out that the booklet showcases that different religions are open for inter-religious dialogue which is essential for multiculturism whereby respect among religions is imperative.
