IOIG 2019: First major activity to be held at Port Louis Waterfront

The first activity, in the context of the forthcoming Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2019, comprising presentation of athletes and sports disciplines, musical show and fireworks display will be held on 19 January 2019 at the Port Louis Waterfront from 16 00 to 19 30 hrs.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Stephan Toussaint, made this announcement on Friday 11 January 2018 during a press conference held at the seat of the Ministry, in Port Louis.

The event is being organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Comite d’Organisation des 10Ames Jeux des Iles de l’Ocean Indien, Club Maurice, Landscope Mauritius Ltd and Hello Events.

Minister Toussaint highlighted that a major activity will be held every month as a countdown for the IOIG 2019 which is scheduled from 19 to 28 July 2019. He underlined that the monthly activity aims at sensitising and rallying the population for the IOIG 2019.

The Minister further pointed out that from February till July, the activities will be held respectively at Mahebourg Waterfront, Flacq Coeur de Ville, Flic en Flac Public Beach, Municipality of Curepipe, Plaza Rose Hill and Grand Baie.

He urged each and every citizen of the country to show their zeal and patriotism by participating and supporting the Mauritian team during the Games.

Activity at Port Louis Waterfront

The programme includes the following activities: Play Station 4 Games; Dance show by participants from Zenes Montre To Talan and Street Dance Battle 2018; presence of IOIG 2019 mascot Krouink; launching of competition for songs of IOIG 2019; live show by the artist Elijah from Seychelles; performance by Mauritian artist Blakayo; and projection of film on Indian Ocean Island Games.
