Kenya Focuses on Enhancing SME Growth through Innovations and Technology, Says Industrialization PS

Thika – The Kenyan government is developing policies aimed at fostering research and innovation, with a focus on enhancing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) through partnerships with academia and the private sector. Industrialization Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Juma Mukhwana has indicated that these policies will boost the adoption of new technologies by SMEs and aid in the commercialization of innovative technologies in the industry.

According to Kenya News Agency, During the 24th graduation ceremony at Mount Kenya University in Thika on Friday, Dr. Mukhwana highlighted the significant role universities play in developing innovations that have gained international recognition and awards, contributing to the establishment of small-scale industrial startups. “Universities are key in SME growth through their innovations. We aim to commercialize these innovations for SME absorption,” he stated.
