Kisii University is celebrating the 9th Annual Cultural Festival to support students in upholding cultural values and igniting their creativity and innovation in career advancement.
The event whose theme is ‘Youth as Agents of Cultural Heritage, Innovative Career Goals, Green and Peace Initiatives’ began on the 5th of February at the University Pavilion and will run up to the 9th of February, 2024.
Several activities have been lined-up for the students, including a career innovation challenge, inter-regional football, DJ, dance and open Mic competitions, cultural gala, and sexual reproductive health discussions.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nathan Ogechi, said the festival is being celebrated against the nation’s aspiration to have seasoned youth, geared towards creating the desired transformation and driving the economy.

ent.
Ogechi noted the network opportunities provided by the institution would ensure the students have access to job opportunities once they graduate.
He assured the students and other attendees of adequate security throughout the festival.
The Career Guest Speaker, Laban Ongaki, urged the students to embrace and support their different cultures in society and accept their identities, as well as where they come from.
Ongaki said the event provides a platform for the students to display their skills, knowledge, and the ability to dream big because dreams can transform a nation.
