Lagdera Allocates Sh76 Million Bursary For Needy Students

Lagdera MP Mohamed Abdikadir has launched the disbursement of Sh76 million in bursaries to needy students across the constituency.

He said the bursaries will benefit 12,682 targeted students in secondary schools, colleges, technical and training institutes and universities.

Abdikadir was speaking at Afweine Primary School Grounds, where he officially launched the kitty.

‘We are in full support of the government’s initiative to achieve a 100 percent transition in an effort to enhance access and retention of students at school,’ the MP said.

‘Those parents who are still keeping students at home because of fee problems should return them to school immediately, as I appeal to principals to ensure no learner in Lagdera is sent home for lack of fees,’ he added.

The MP also handed over a cheque to Garissa Teachers Training College to cater for full fees for 60 students from the constituency currently studying at the institution.

He added that his administration is committed to investing in educating Lagdera yo
uth to enable them to become productive people in society and urged the students to maintain high standards of discipline if they want to succeed in their career.

Meanwhile, the MP Mohamed has thrown his weight behind the government’s directive for parents to pay school fees through the E-Citizen platform.
