A section of leaders drawn from Tiaty constituency have called for elevation of Chemolingot town to a municipality in line with current development activities.
Led by Tiaty Member of Parliament (MP) William Kamket, the leaders urged Baringo County government to fast track the plans saying it will open numerous opportunities for the locals.
Kamket stated that the move of elevating the constituency headquarters to town status was long overdue following the ever growing population and mushrooming of institutions and business enterprises in the area.
The legislator made the call during the 65th Mashujaa day celebrations which was presided over by governor Benjamin Cheboi and County Commissioner Stephen Kutwa at Michuki grounds in Chemolingot, Taity West Sub County.
He said the recently opened Kenya Medical Training College within the urban settlement is a good testament of what institutions can turn around the social economic activities of an area within a short time.

process of Chemolingot and its environs to be completed stated that the area has a huge potential for investment to thrive.
‘I believe that the town planning is complete because we want everybody to know his or her section and where we can set our public utilities and with that our region will grow at an alarming speed,’ he said.
The lawmaker at the same time called upon the administration officers to team up with other stakeholders in supervising work done by contractors after the region benefited from over Sh 400 million Equalization fund which will support in realization of key development projects in the water, health, roads and energy sectors.
In his remarks, Governor Benjamin Cheboi assured the area MP that the county administration has already surveyed 102 plots and adjudication for other sections was ongoing.
He called upon professionals and plot owners to seize the opportunity and set up accommodation facilities for students and officers which he noted was still a challenge in the soon to be call
ed town.
Cheboi added that his administration has lined up 120 new projects in the Education, health and water departments in a bid to develop the area to be at par with other sub counties.
CC Kutwa said the government will in due course open offices offering key services like registration of persons in order to cut cost by residents who have been traveling all the way up to the Kabarnet town to get services.
Kutwa who handed over 180 birth certificates to the rightful owners revealed plans to gazette more sub counties in the region and said they will be using chiefs and National Government Administration Officers to enforce the issuance directive for the meantime.
