Mauritius condemns violence on the Israeli-Gaza Border

The Government of the Republic of Mauritius expresses deep concern at the high level of casualties, including the number of injured, following violence on the Israeli-Gaza Border.

In a Communique issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade on 18 May 2018, the Government calls on all parties to exercise restraint, cease hostilities and ensure the safety of all civilians.

Mauritius supports the people of Palestine in their quest for a sovereign, independent and viable Palestinian State.

Mauritius reiterates its call for renewed and genuine international efforts for the creation of a conducive environment for the negotiations towards an early realisation of the two-state solution, with an independent and viable Palestine, on a path of sustainable and inclusive economic development, existing side by side and at peace with the State of Israel.
