Men defiling minors in Makueni County put on notice

Men who are involved in defiling minors in Makueni County should be arrested and jailed, Makueni Women Representative Rose Museo has said.

Consequently, Museo regretted such people were causing a lot of pain to innocent girls hampering their chance of continuing with education.

Further, Museo challenged parents to take good care of their children especially the girls who bear the brunt of being defiled by some individuals in the county.

‘Men who are involved in this evil should stop or face the full force of the law. The government should take stern action against them and leave them to age in jail,’ Museo suggested while speaking to various women groups in Marwa, Mukaa Sub County on Thursday.

‘We need to care and show love to these children so that they can have ample time to study without any disruption,’ she noted.

Though she did not mention the number of defilements, there have been cases in the county where young girls have been defiled.

On burning of schools, Museo called upon secondary schools st
udents to act responsibly and desist from destroying or setting ablaze the property of the institutions they are learning in.

She challenged them to report any students who are involved in criminal activities in schools so that the County government can avert the worrying trend of burning schools in Makueni County and the country at large.

‘I urge you to be responsible students in your schools. Report to the head teacher any student involved in criminal activities so that we avert destruction of property,’ Museo said.

‘You should know that the school you are learning at, there are other students who will come after you. We look up to act responsibly,’ she added.

In Makueni, there have been around 10 schools that have had dormitories burnt. Some of the schools including Ngoto Boys Secondary school have had two incidents of fire this term.
