The laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a new post office in Trou d’Eau Douce was held yesterday.
The Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin, the Chief Executive Officer of Mauritius Post Ltd, Mr Vijaye Ramchurn, and other personalities were also present at the event.
The construction of the new post office is in line with the vision of the Mauritius Post Ltd to continuously improve service delivery to customers and enhance the operational efficiency of postal services.
The project entails the construction of a two-storey building of some 88.3m2 over some 290m2 of land. The post office in Trou d’Eau Douce is currently housed in a rented building.
Its location, near the Police Station and the Area Health Centre, will ensure its convenience for customers while the new building will accommodate for a larger volume of customers and services.
