Mombasa residents urge the police to hasten investigations on the abduction of a Wajir MCA

Mombasa residents hailing from Wajir County are calling on the police to expedite the probe to unravel the mystery of the abduction of Dala Ward MCA Yusuf Hussein Abdi.

The Wajir County Assembly Minority Leader was reportedly abducted by armed people in Nairobi on Friday night.

One Adan Issack said in Mombasa that the MCA was abducted on Enterprise Road while heading to his home in Pangani from South C.

‘He was being trailed by two Prado vehicles. Unknown persons abducted the MCA. Up to today, we don’t know his whereabouts. There is no information or leads. Blood is thicker than water. We want to know the whereabouts of our brother,’ stated Issack.

He added that forceful disappearances were supposed to be a bygone as the Head of State promised when he took the oath of Office, but they were still going on.

He noted that the abduction deprived more than 10,000 Dalla people of representation in the County Assembly.

‘We want to know his whereabouts. If he has offences he should be taken to court and convic
ted or freed. Kenya is a country governed by the rule of law. The law says if someone is arrested, he is supposed to be produced in court within 24 hours,’ stated Issack.

‘Today is the fourth day and we don’t know if he is alive or dead. The buck stops with the Head of State. Abductions are continuing. We want the MCA to be produced,’ he added.

On his part, Abdullahi Ali appealed to the Director of Criminals of Investigations (DCI) to search for the abducted MCA and for him to be produced in court.

‘It is appalling that an elected MCA from Wajir County was abducted in Nairobi by armed people as we heard. We want the government to work relentlessly to find him,’ said Ali.

One Rukia Omar challenged government agencies to comb every nook and cranny and get the abducted MCA.
