The Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Technology, Mr Darsanand Balgobin, proceeded, yesterday, with the inauguration of the new Bel Air Post Office.
The Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mr Soomilduth Bholah; the Parliamentary Private Secretary, Mr Sanjit Kumar Nuckcheddy; and the Deputy Speaker, Mr Mohammud Zahid Nazurally, were also present.
In his address, Minister Balgobin said that the new Bel Air Post Office is a full-fledged Post Office while recalling that Mauritius Post Parcel Centres have been opened at Tribeca, Phoenix, Solferino and Brisée Verdière.
He informed that the ancient Bel Air Post Office had been closed down for several reasons such as restricted space and needed a renovation. Hence, the necessity for the Mauritius Post Ltd to set up a new Post Office which offers an enhanced service to the inhabitants of the region, he underlined.
Speaking about the new Post Office, Minister Balgobin informed that it will offer the same array of services being
offered by the Mauritius Post Ltd. He added that it will be open from 08:00 hours to 15:00 hours and that the elderly will still be able to collect their pensions as was the case in the former Bel Air Post Office.
He also highlighted that the new Post Office will accept e-commerce parcels to be delivered at people’s houses. He reassured that more parcels will be delivered and that delivery will be carried out quicker.
