Newly appointed High Commissioner of Rwanda presents his Letter of Credence to President Roopun


The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Mauritius, Mr Emmanuel Hategeka, presented, today, his Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, at the State House in Réduit.

In a statement following the meeting, High Commissioner Hategeka highlighted the longstanding and positive relations between Rwanda and Mauritius which have been strong for over two decades. He noted that there is a mutual desire to further enhance these relations.

Furthermore, Mr Hategeka indicated that a key proposal was discussed on the establishment of a joint permanent commission to develop and implement a comprehensive bilateral cooperation programme, moving beyond mere signing of Memorandum of Understandings to active implementation.

Moreover, he emphasised the intention to increase connectivity between the two countries to foster people-to-people diplomacy and expand economic collaboration. He stressed the commitment to work closely with Mauritian authoritie
s to advance and elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights.
