Over 23,000 households benefit from clean water supply in Nyandarua

Over 23,000 households from Rurii Ward in Ol-Kalou Constituency are set to benefit from a multi-million water project courtesy of Ol-Kalou Water Company (Ol-WASCO) in collaboration with the Nyandarua County government.

The Kirima Water borehole project is set to cost Sh19 million and its waters piped to reach residents of Rurii village, Plot-10, Silanga among others.

Nyandarua Governor, Kiarie Badilisha, has said the project is set to help quench thirst for the local residents and hence called on their cooperation and unity to ensure its success.

‘We are very lucky to have a very large water reservoir underground in this area according to the water hydrological surveyors and experts that did a test here. The water will be enough to serve at least four villages,’ said Badilisha.

He spoke during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kirima borehole and later gave needy families water harvesting tanks.

The governor noted that providing clean water is part of his change manifesto, which he had promised residen
ts of Nyandarua during his gubernatorial campaigns ahead of the 2022 general election.

Ol-WASCO Managing Director Esther Muthoni said plans are underway to increase coverage in the clean water supply.
