Patrice YEYE Installed as Governor of Tannounyan Region

Tannounyan: Patrice YEYE has been officially installed as the new Governor of the Tannounyan region. The installation ceremony was conducted by the Secretary General of the Government, Ousmane Ouattara, representing the Minister of Territorial Administration. YEYE’s appointment, ratified by the Council of Ministers on September 18, 2025, follows the retirement eligibility of his predecessor, Divisional Commissioner Florent Badabou¨ Bazie, after his two-year service period.

According to Burkina Information Agency, before his appointment as Governor, Patrice YEYE served as the Director of Police Intervention Units. In this role, he was noted for his sense of duty and commitment to enhancing the operational capabilities of the security forces. The installation ceremony was attended by numerous guests, local authorities, and significant figures in the region, paying tribute to the outgoing Governor.

Ousmane Ouattara commended Florent Badabou¨ Bazie for his commitment and dedication, emphasizing his administrative, social, and security management contributions in the region. Ouattara acknowledged that Bazie’s determination and self-sacrifice, along with his colleagues, helped the region confront terrorist threats and advance socio-economic development. He wished Bazie a peaceful retirement.

Ouattara addressed the new Governor, stressing the expectations from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who has high hopes for Tannounyan’s potential. He urged YEYE to focus on the objectives of the Stabilization and Development Action Plan (PA-SD). The Minister’s representative also highlighted the challenges due to the region’s borders with Cote d’Ivoire and Mali, urging the new Governor to fortify good neighborly relations and cross-border administrative cooperation.

Finally, Ouattara called on all stakeholders, including administrative authorities, traditional and religious leaders, and the population, to support YEYE in implementing initiatives for the region’s development.

Outgoing Governor Florent Badabou¨ Bazie expressed gratitude towards the administrative, judicial, customary, and religious authorities for their unwavering support. He acknowledged the satisfactory results achieved for the happiness of the populations and thanked the highest authorities for their trust and support during his tenure. Bazie also paid tribute to the fighting forces for their courage and determination, which facilitated territorial reconquest and the return of populations to their localities, restoring confidence and hope within the communities.
