Kisii: A suspected drug dealer, who has been on the run, yesterday appeared before a Kisii court, charged with trafficking cannabis sativa worth over Sh8 million. Geofrey Nyabira, alias Jeff, pleaded not guilty to the offense of trafficking narcotic drugs at Mwamogesa village, Daraja Mbili sub-location, Kitutu Central sub-county, Kisii County on 2nd April this year, contrary to the Psychotropic Substance (Control) Act No. 41994 as amended by Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (Control) Amendments Act 2022.
According to Kenya News Agency, Nyabira was presented before Senior Resident Magistrate Joshua Nyariki for allegedly committing the offence with others not before the court. The accused has been on the run since the date of the offence after he allegedly escaped arrest during a multiagency operation conducted by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and officials from the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination.
He was, however, apprehended on Tuesday this week when he surrendered himself to police in Kitutu Central sub-county in the county.
