Russia Considers Ethiopia as Key Player in BRICS


Addis Ababa: Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin, has expressed confidence that Ethiopia will play a vital role in the BRICS group of nations.

In an interview with ENA, the Ambassador stated that Ethiopia’s participation will significantly contribute to the collective development of the bloc.

The 16th BRICS Summit, held in Kazan, Russia, concluded with extensive discussions and agreements on various issues.

Subsequently, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed led an Ethiopian delegation to the summit, marking the country’s inaugural participation in the group.

During the summit, Ethiopia actively participated in discussions aimed at shaping a more equitable global order. The delegation also contributed valuable insights to the deliberations, ensuring that the country’s national interests were well-represented.

The country demonstrated a balanced approach to international issues at the summit.

Highlighting the significance of BRICS, a major economic bloc the ambassador noted that Ethiopia’s recent inclus
ion in the group will contribute to its shared development goals.

He emphasized that BRICS member countries collaborate on economic and social issues, fostering mutual development.

He expressed confidence that Ethiopia’s participation will not only benefit the country’s own economic growth but also contribute to the overall goals of the BRICS bloc.

BRICS represents a powerful economic bloc, accounting for one-third of the global economy and nearly half of the world’s population.

The alliance’s influence continues to grow, with over 30 countries expressing interest in joining the bloc. By fostering economic cooperation and strengthening people-to-people ties, BRICS is poised to play a crucial role in shaping a more balanced global order.10:04
