Support, Mentor Upcoming Schools, Koskei

The Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff, Felix Koskei, has called on the leadership of good performing schools to mentor the neighbouring upcoming schools as a way of ensuring academic excellence for all the student fraternity.

Speaking at Samoei Boys Secondary School during a Thanksgiving ceremony in regard to their sterling results among the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates, Koskei noted that all students are capable of excelling if the spirit of teamwork and the strategies of teaching in good performing schools are applied in non-performing schools.

The Head of Public Service challenged teachers from performing schools to extend their teaching talents to neighbouring schools that are emerging as a way of achieving self-actualization in the education sector in society.

He added that for a school to excel, all stakeholders have to be involved, since it is the concerted effort of teachers, students, boards of management, and parents that determines the performance of an
y institution.

‘There is no magic in academic excellence other than focusing, identifying challenges, engaging teachers all the time, obedience, and paying school fees on time by parents,’ he advised.

‘I want to thank the teachers for working very hard as well as for being close to these boys, which resulted in overwhelming results,’ pointed out the head of public service.

Koskei further recognised and commended the students and parents’ efforts, noting that education is the best thing that a parent should give to children for them to have a bright future.

The Public Service boss observed that education is the only game changer and equaliser that can transform any society for the better, adding that it can enable students to compete in the international employment market.

‘Having a 100 percent transition to university is not a mean task. Samoei boys, you have done us proud.

The spirit of commitment and hard work should be doubled to achieve even better results next year. I want to thank the teachers who
worked extra hard to post these results,’ observed Koskei, while advising students to have a vision of what they want to be in life and work towards achieving their goal.

The Chief of Staff expressed the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to supporting education, confirming that they had signed agreements with Western and Arabian countries pertaining to job markets, thus assuring learners and parents that there are a lot of job opportunities abroad.

On his part, Tinderet MP Julius Melly, who is also the chair of the parliamentary committee on education, echoed the sentiments, terming Samoei Boys Secondary School as one of the best schools in the country.

Melly called on parents to devote their efforts in supporting the school administration to supplement teachers in excelling in academics, affirming that a plan is underway to upgrade the school into a model school.

‘As Nandi leaders, we are working together to supplement the education sector in our region. This is one of the best schools in the Republic
of Kenya; hence, parents should devote their support to the school to ensure the best performance,’ stated the legislator.
