Disgruntled E-ROMAT-3I company workers in the West region, affiliated to, electricity company, ENEO have staged a protest at the premises of the electricity production and distribution company on January 24, 2023, denouncing maltreatment endured from their E-Romat 3I employers.
‘They owe us months of salaries. It should be paid.’
‘We need salary increment. They should pay us 120,000frs like ENEO workers and no longer 76,000 fees which is too small’. Some of the workers said.
They complained about low salaries, adding that the risks involved in accessing remote villages, and dangerous quarters are unbearable.
‘It is very costly to get to remote villages to work. Some of us live far from the office, making us spend a lot on transportation to and from work.’
‘We are unable to feed our families and send children to school. All our efforts seem not to be seen by the management. We need a change. Enough is enough’. They added.
Protesting women said their situation is worst. They revealed that there has been i
ntimidation and marginalisation against them.
‘Women are not granted maternity leave, scaring us from giving birth. We need to give birth to our own children like our parents gave birth to us. All we get is intimidation and marginalisation. When you raise a complain, they threaten to sack you. We have no franc at the National Social Insurance Fund.’ A female protester cried out.
The angry workers also denounced the fact that they use their personal equipment to do company works.
‘Our employers expect us to buy work materials and jackets from them.’
Their wish is that ENEO officials intervene and mount pressure on their affiliate, E-ROMAT 3I Sarl to pay its workers normally and regularly the sum of 120,000 frs as salary. Also, to tell the top management to respect the rights of its employees.
They promised to get back to work only when there are acceptable changes.
In the meantime, no official statement has been made by E-ROMAT and ENEO officials.
