Addis ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed declared that the primary political and economic objective of the ‘Medemer State’ is to entrust Ethiopia and its aspirations to its people, rather than to select groups or individuals. The writer, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, articulated that his latest book, the fourth in his series, emphasizes this goal of empowering the Ethiopian populace with their political and economic dreams.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the book titled ‘Medemer State’ underscores the importance of placing Ethiopia’s aspirations correctly to ensure comprehensive prosperity. In an interview with Fana Media Corporation about his new release, the premier highlighted the necessity of synergy in ensuring prosperity and returning Ethiopia to its citizens. This involves a balanced participation and collaboration among all stakeholders.
The Medemer State ideology advocates for inclusivity, with every citizen, ethnicity, and individual of every faith contributing to the nation’s future. Abiy emphasized that these voices must be heard and allowed to participate actively in the nation’s development. The Medemer State rejects the notion that any group is more important than others and believes that true ownership of Ethiopia by its citizens requires collective participation and synergy.
Abiy further stressed the need for a society where all citizens are treated equally, can benefit from their efforts, and have equal political participation opportunities. Without inclusivity and the summation of ideas and capacities, the premier argues, Ethiopia cannot truly belong to its people.
The prime minister also noted the ongoing transformation in the political landscape, where parties previously categorized as “main” and “partners” under the old Ethiopian ruling party system are now integrated under the “Medemer” philosophy. This shift eliminates hierarchical distinctions and includes regions like Somali, Afar, and Benishangul at the political center, treating them as equal contributors.
This inclusive approach has led to noteworthy achievements across various development sectors. By bringing these regions to the forefront, Ethiopia has begun to see substantial economic growth and development, reflecting the enhanced capacity and participation of all its regions.
