Laikipia County Government Partners with Outspan Hospital to Boost Health Services

Laikipia: Laikipia county government has partnered with Outspan Private Hospital to boost health service delivery for residents.

According to Kenya News Agency, the partnership was announced during the official opening of Outspan Private Hospital’s Nanyuki Branch. Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu highlighted that the collaboration would involve specialized doctors’ services and the use of diagnostic medical equipment to ensure seamless patient care. Outspan’s main branch is located in Nyeri County.

Governor Irungu noted that while the county achieves 70 percent of health service delivery, 40 percent of its budget is allocated to health, yet challenges in addressing all health needs persist. He expressed that the partnership with Outspan Private Hospital would enhance healthcare services in the region. The governor also mentioned that this collaboration would ease the burden on patients who previously had to travel to Nyeri and other areas for specialized medical services.

Outspan Hospital Executive Director Godfrey Kiruhi added that the partnership would focus on addressing mental health challenges, which have been increasing in the region. The collaboration aims to supplement existing medical services and ensure that patients referred from public to private facilities receive continuous care without suffering due to the transition.
