KNH Appoints Dr Richard Lesiyampe as New Acting CEO

Nairobi: Dr Richard Lesiyampe Leserian has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). Health Cabinet Secretary Adan Duale, in a statement sent to newsrooms, emphasized the importance of Kenyatta National Hospital as the Apex national referral facility in advancing health sector reforms and achieving Universal Health Coverage.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Government of Kenya has identified healthcare delivery as one of the core pillars of its Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Dr Lesiyampe, who previously served as the Acting CEO of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), brings extensive experience to strengthen KNH’s governance, clinical, and administrative systems, aligning with ongoing reforms.

Following this transition, Mr Joshua Clinton Ombiri Okise has been appointed to act as the Chief Executive Officer of JOOTRH. He will oversee a smooth leadership transition and support the hospital’s continued growth following its recent elevation to Level 6 status. Dr Lesiyampe’s extensive track record includes roles with the Kenya Wildlife Services and as a former CEO of Kenyatta National Hospital. He also served as a principal secretary in both the Environment and Agriculture ministries.
