New york: The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, His Excellency Mr. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, has arrived in New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He was greeted by the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the United States, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, along with other officials and members of the Burkinabe diaspora.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme for this year’s session is “Better Together: More than 80 years of service to peace, development and human rights.” The session aims to provide a platform for UN member countries to discuss pressing global challenges. The general debates are scheduled from September 23 to 29, 2025, with Prime Minister Ouedraogo set to deliver the Burkina Faso Declaration on September 27, 2025.
In addition to addressing the assembly, the Prime Minister’s agenda includes high-level meetings on topics such as security, climate, inclusive governance, and sustainable development. The Burkinabe delegation will engage in summits and thematic forums covering health, education, research, agribusiness, green energy, and philanthropy.
The visit will also feature consultations with counterparts from the Alliance of Sahel States and interactions with the Burkinabe community in the United States, highlighting the focus on local diplomacy and the role of the diaspora in national development.
