Bomet Vocational Institutions To Partner With Canadian Humber College

Canadian based Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning is set to partner with 33 Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs) in Bomet.

This is as result of a discussion between Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok and the President and Chief Executive Officer of Humber College Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan held in Bomet.

The discussion explored ways of improving vocational training in the County as well as learning the best practices in VTCs particularly in recognition of prior learning, applied research and competency based learning.

Prof. Barchok said there would be teacher and student exchange programmes between Bomet VTCs and Humber College after all framework modalities were done.

Barchok revealed that the discussion also included finding ways of creating centers of excellence in the 33 VTCs in the County.

The governor said the partnership was aimed at equipping youths with knowledge, skills and training to enable them to compete as a global workforce while opening up opportunities that may not be available in the white-collar jobs’ sectors.

He further stated that his administration was continuously improving the academic and infrastructural development in the VTCs, while also aiming at increasing enrollment of trainees.
