Ijara: Kenyans across the 47 counties are continually supporting Members of Parliament to be custodians of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). In Ijara Sub County in Garissa County, residents on Thursday endorsed the MPs to continue with what they referred to as a job well done. The residents now want the fund to be entrenched into the 2010 Constitution.
According to Kenya News Agency, in a public participation forum held in Masalani town in Ijara Sub County, participants expressed optimism that the MPs are equal to the task. Led by community opinion leader Mr. Salah Yarrow, they advocated for stringent laws to govern the use of the fund, calling for more accountability of the kitty.
Yarrow highlighted that since independence, the impact of the NG-CDF in Ijara has been evident, particularly after its launch in 2013. The participants acknowledged that the fund has improved development in the region, including enhancements in healthcare, provision of bursaries for students, and the overall wellbeing of the residents.
