Nyeri Elimu Fund Local Committee Launched

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has launched the Elimu Fund Ward Committee at Wambugu ATC Nyeri County that will disburse bursaries to needy students in the county.

The 7-member committee comprises of Sub County and Ward Administrators, Principal Education Officers, youth, women, men and People appointed from the 30 wards in the county.

Speaking during the function Kahiga said the committee will carry out various functions such as sensitizing the community on the fund, availing application forms, receiving and considering fund applications, conducting research and maintaining data on the eligibility of students for funds, monitor academic performance of students receiving the funds and answer questions at the grassroots level pertaining the bursary.

Kahiga also advised the committee members to take seriously the responsibility bestowed upon them to ensure fairness during the process and to remain well informed to provide clarity on issues of concern if raised.

His remarks were echoed by Deputy Governor David Kinaniri who urged the committee members to uphold virtues of integrity, accountability, honesty, transparency and to work with the County Government of Nyeri in making the region is a better place.

The Committee was also briefed on how to conduct the disbursement and an overview of the Nyeri Elimu Fund Act, 2015 by the Principal Legal Officer Abigael Njoki.
