Osotsi Warns Leaders Against Tribal Politics in Vihiga

Vihiga: Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has cautioned local leaders against promoting tribal divisions, urging them to embrace unity and work together for the common good of residents. Speaking during the installation ceremony of Abasyubi elders in Mwibona Ward, Osotsi stressed the importance of cooperation among the Maragoli, Tiriki, and Abanyore communities, saying divisive politics would only derail development in the county.

According to Kenya News Agency, Osotsi emphasized that the county is composed of Maragoli, Tiriki, and Abanyore communities, but underscored that they are all united under the nation of Kenya. He called on leaders to prioritize the interests of the residents over personal or ethnic considerations.

His remarks come amid rising concerns over tribal-based mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ceremony was attended by Luanda MP Dick Maungu and other leaders, who joined the Senator in reaffirming their commitment to inclusivity and development in Vihiga.
