Reducing capitation for schools, a burden to parents, Kaiti MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kaiti Constituency, Mr. Joshua Kimilu, has appealed to the government not to reduce capitation for fees to Secondary schools in the country.

Kimilu feared that if the money is reduced, it will pose more burden to already strained parents as they will be forced to pay additional fees in a bid to ensure their children access education.

He at the same time appealed to the government to increase the capitation fees by reducing other items in the budgetary allocation that are not essential to learners’ needs.

‘We should not reduce the capitation fees. As we reduce the budget of other things, let us increase capitation so that it can ease the burden of parents paying more fees,’ said Kimilu at St. Patrick, Kyamuthei Secondary School, where he commissioned a new bus to the Institution on Monday.
