Security officers in Kimilili Sub-County, Bungoma County have netted and destroyed over 3,500 litres of illicit brew in the ongoing countrywide crackdown on the vice.
The Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) Mwita Maroa said that cooperation between the officers and the area residents had largely contributed to the arrest of the culprits who were engaging in the making of the brew.
The SCPC who was speaking to KNA at Kamukuywa where the brew was destroyed asked politicians in the area to be at the forefront in educating the public on the dangers of illicit brew to win the fight against the vice in the area.
He noted that many families’ lives had been destroyed due to the indulgence in the brew by their breadwinners alongside disease outbreaks in the homes.
Maroa pointed out that taking of the illicit brew had made the area lag in development thus the need for concerted efforts amongst all stakeholders to end the making of the brew in the area.
