Embu’s 3K FC Celebrates Promotion To National Super League

Song and dance rented the air in Embu Town on Saturday when 3K FC that had been promoted to National Super League after emerging victorious in Division One Zone A League officially brought the trophy home.

The team sealed the title win last weekend with a 3-1 win against Kibra United while their closest rival, Fortune Sacco that was also vying for the top spot separated by a single point suffered a 1-0 loss to OMAX FC.

The squad gathered at their Embu Stadium home ground to celebrate the win with their fans and supporters as they also presented the trophy to Governor Cecily Mbarire who raised it aloft to cheers and jubilation of the fans.

They later embarked on carnival procession along the streets of Embu Town parading the trophy of what they termed as a milestone victory for a team that started as a village team in Kagumori area of Nginda Ward in 2013.

Governor Mbarire who also gifted the team Sh50, 000 prize money congratulated the team for the victory adding that it will motivate other upcoming teams.

‘We are glad that for the first time in the history of Embu, we have been able to grow champions that can get to that level and we are happy as a county to be associated with them,’ Mbarire said.

She said they also had four teams in Division Two that they are supporting in every way possible to have them scale new heights as well.

Team Chairman Charles Njagi said it has been a long journey and struggle that has finally paid off for the club that has beaten all odds to get to the national limelight.

He exuded confidence that the team will in the near future qualify to play in the top-flight Football Federation Kenya (FKF) league.

‘We have good players, a good coach and technical bench who have been doing well and we believe the team is destined for bigger wins,’ he said.

The team Head Coach Francis Chege attributed the win to sacrifice, discipline and hard work as they were not the favorites at the initial stages of the league having started at the relegation zone.
