Government On Track In Addressing The Cost Of Living, MP Assures Kenyans

Meru County Woman Representative Ms Karambu Kailemia has come out to assure Kenyans that the William Ruto-led government was on the right track in addressing the cost of living in the country.

Addressing journalists in Buuri Sub-County, Ms Kailemia said that a clear indicator of this was the evident decreasing trend in the price of petroleum products which will eventually lead to reduced cost of production for other products including food commodities.

‘The decrease in prices of petrol, for instance, is one way of bringing things down because I am very convinced that President William Ruto is more concerned about the cost of living than anybody else,’ she said.

She said she was surprised some people were not talking about the decrease in petroleum products but were all over media platforms complaining of the high cost of living day-in day-out.

Kailemia added that it was the President’s foremost agenda to lower the cost of living just from the word go, especially when he was championing the bottom-up econ
omic model, and that she was sure he had not abdicated it yet.

‘If you find a dirty house you need to make it neat and before even thinking of moving out. So, for me, I am very convinced that he will make a positive change in Kenya and already we can see the changes,’ said Ms Kailemia.

She said the President has been spending sleepless nights planning for the nation as well as traveling over the world to negotiate for jobs for young people.

Kailemia added, ‘Jobs just don’t come. You have to negotiate by going to other countries and we can see the fruits since he has secured thousands of job opportunities for our youth in various countries.’

This, she said, was one way to eliminate illegal migration by Kenyans looking for jobs which has in some previous incidences ended in grief and pain.

She said the creation of digital jobs was also another way that the government was trying to create jobs for the youth through the Ajira Program who will later contribute to the country’s economy in a big way.

in agricu
lture, Ms Kailemia said that farmers will soon be reaping bumper harvests courtesy of subsidized farm inputs and this is one of the ways of reducing the cost of living.

She called on Kenyans to give the President a chance to execute his programmes adding that he has good plans for the country which could also be seen by those who are keen.

The County MP said a majority of those complaining about the cost of living were part and parcel of the previous regime and nothing better can be expected of them.

‘It didn’t come yesterday; we all know the cost of living was high even before the Ruto regime came into power. All we need to do is to be patient and pray to God to give our President strength since he has a very hard job to do,’ said Ms Kailemia.

She added, ‘Let us not always be negative until our tongues curse us. We should look at Kenya as a beautiful Country and we shall get there.’
