Harambee Starlets Beats Cameroon

Harambee Starlets proceed to the second round of the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers after beating Cameroon 4-3 on penalties on Tuesday at Nyayo Stadium. The match ended 1-0 in favor of Harambee Starlets during regulation time. Cynthia Shilwatso’s free kick in the 81st minute found the back of the net, tying the game 1-1 on aggregate score. Annedy Kundu was instrumental in saving a crucial penalty before Sheryl Angachi stepped up to score the winning penalty goal ensuring qualification to the second round. Harambee Starlets will face either Gabon or Botswana in the second round, scheduled between November 27 and December 5, 2023. The winner of the second round will secure an automatic qualification for the 2024 WAFCON tournament to be held in Morocco. The starting 11 players for the Harambee Starlets were Annedy Kundu, Enez Mango, Ruth Ingosi, Corazone Aquino, Vivian Nasaka, Sheryl Angachi, Jentrix Shikangwa, Phoebe Owiti, Mwanalima Adam, Esse Akida and Tereza Engesha. In the substitute’s bench were Caroline Rufa, Cynthia Shilwatso, Juliet Andibo, Elizabeth Wambui, Ketsia Ngaira, Violet Nanjala and Wincaate Kaari.
