Islamic Vacation Courses: 200 Learners Taught About Promoting a Tolerant Islam

Nouna: The Sunni Movement Mosque in Nouna hosted Islamic holiday courses from July 1 to August 30, 2025, for 200 learners aged 6 to 15. They were equipped to promote a tolerant Islam.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Issiaka Sidibe, director of the holiday courses, stated that the Sunni movement initiated these courses with the aim of promoting a tolerant Islam. The program included 200 learners who participated in activities from July 1 to August 30, 2025, in Nouna.

The curriculum was centered around reading the Quran, teaching the hadiths, and providing religious instruction through the biography of the Prophet. These sessions were conducted five days a week, exclusively in the morning.

The 200 students, comprising 88 girls and 112 boys, were organized into four classrooms, each overseen by an Arabic language teacher. Participation in the course required a fee of 2500 francs.

The closing ceremony, highlighting themes of tolerance and social cohesion, occurred on August 30, 2025. Islamic holiday courses were initially launched in 2022, much to the satisfaction of parents who attended the event to witness the learners’ various performances.

During the ceremony, learners presented recitations of the Quran, blessings, and hadiths. The event’s significance was further elevated by the attendance of Moustapha Drame, the renowned preacher from the city of Noumandou.
