Narok Gets New County Commissioner

Immediate former Deputy County Commissioner for Mt. Elgon Sub County, Reuben Lotiatia, is the new Narok County Commissioner (CC), after he was handed over office by the outgoing County Commissioner, Isaac Masinde.

Lotiatia is among 12 Deputy County Commissioners, who were promoted as per a posting order on January 25, 2024, by the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Interior and National Administration, Kithure Kindiki.

Masinde who has served Narok people for two years since January 2022, was recalled back to the headquarters for re-deployment.

During the handing over ceremony at the Commissioner’s Boardroom attended by top security team, Heads of Department and religious leaders, Masinde asked the incoming Commissioner to continue with from where he left, saying he had what it takes to serve in the capacity and to handle any challenges that might arise in the County.

He highlighted key areas among them, ensuring 100 percent transition to Junior Secondary and Form One and overseeing the completion of National gov
ernment projects, that have already been started.

The Heads of Department present praised the outgoing Commissioner for his dedication and hard work in attending to the people of Narok.

Through a remark given by the County Director of Education, Apollo Apuko, the Departmental Head described Masinde, as a supportive officer who listened and offered guidance to all government officers.

‘We have enjoyed working with you. Your leadership skills and guidance has left the County better than you found it. We wish you well in your new station,’ he said.

Apuko welcomed the new CC promising to offer him full support, as he executes his duties.

On his part, the incoming County Commissioner assured the residents of his total dedication to make the County a better place, promising to bring all stakeholders on board, as he executes his mandate.

The CC transfer follows rampant cases of insecurity raised by the residents, among them the killing of a 29-year-old surveyor at an Estate in Narok Town.
