Reggae Legend Turbulence To Perform In Kisumu

Kisumu County is set to experience a live concert at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium on Saturday, June 10 from reggae and dancehall superstar Turbulence.

Jamaican reggae artiste Sheldon Campbell, aka Turbulence, will be performing at Lakeside County, barely two weeks after Richy Spice staged a spectacular show that attracted thousands of reggae enthusiasts.

The upcoming event, dubbed One Love Cultural Festival, will feature a number of Kenyan performers who will use the platform to showcase their talent and spread messages of love and peace in a bid to promote cultural diversity and unity in Kisumu County.

The Real Warrior hit maker will also participate in several social causes like tree planting, the launch of borehole drilling at Ahero, and will also attend a young musicians’ workshop in a bid to mentor them.

‘We believe that music has the power to unite people and create positive change. The event aims to bring together individuals from diverse communities to celebrate our shared humanity and raise awareness about environmental responsibility,’ said Rita Omollo, the festival organizer.

Addressing the press ahead of the anticipated concert, Omollo stated that the festival will also feature displaying of rich traditional food, drinks and creative markets to celebrate the African culture.

‘Apart from the live performances, attendees will have a chance to explore the vibrant visual arts display and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Kisumu County. We are thrilled to bring together the best of reggae music, local talents, and a commitment to environmental sustainability in one dynamic event,’ added Omollo commonly known as Black Omollo.

County Director of Culture and Arts, Bruno Aduma, said that hosting Turbulence and other international artistes would help market Kisumu’s rich cultural diversity and promote talent development by exposing local artists to the world.

Aduma hailed the event organizers for assimilating creative art in the music concert to educate people on environmental conservation in a bid to combat climate change.

The show has been organized by One Love Community Based Organization with regular tickets going at Sh.500, VIP Sh.2, 000 and VVIP 4,000.
