Noumbiel: Traffic Offenders Subject to Community Service

Noumbiel: The Batie Central Police Station (CCP) in collaboration with the municipal police organized a community service operation following the arrest of traffic offenders. The objective is to encourage the population to strictly respect the highway code in order to avoid as much as possible the rate of incivility and traffic accidents in the “City of DA MAAR.”

According to Burkina Information Agency, the arrest involved more than fifty road users and the offences included, among other things, failure to obey stop signs, speeding in built-up areas, and the use of mobile phones while driving. For the commander of the urban police force of the central police station of Batie, police lieutenant Zacharia Ouedraogo, this activity refers to law 035/2024 of the Transitional Legislative Assembly establishing community service in Burkina Faso.

“The aim of these arrests is to subject offenders to community service such as cleaning gutters and cleaning up public places,” he said. Lieutenant Zacharia Ouedraogo reported that the offenders were taken to the police station where they were briefed and their vehicles returned. “This is not the end of the story. We will continue this way, and I urge everyone to strictly adhere to the highway code and traffic regulations,” he warned.
