Return of ‘Tsehay’ Aircraft from Italy Signifies Diplomatic Success, True Friendship, Says PM Foreign Policy Advisor

Addis Ababa: The return of ‘Tsehay’ aircraft is a diplomatic success based on understanding and true friendship, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister Ambassador Taye Atske-selassie said.

Recall Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced yesterday the return of aircraft from Italy and he stated that it marks a historic milestone for Ethiopia with the handover of ‘Tsehay’ to the Government of Ethiopia by the Italian authorities.

Ambassador Taye shared on his X page that this is a diplomatic success based on understanding and true friendship.

The history of Ethiopian Aviation is fascinating and driven by the desire to explore, the advisor noted.

‘In the late 1920s we trained the first men and women pilots in Jigiga. The first aircraft, ‘Tsehay’ was built in 1935. After over eight decades stay in Italy the aircraft is coming back home. This is a diplomatic success based on understanding and true friendship.’
